Tenth Annual Silent Auction

Tenth Annual Silent Auction
Red Sox tickets among items to be auctioned

Brookfield, MA – The Women’s Alliance of the Brookfield Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 9 Upper River Street (on the Brookfield Common) is sponsoring its Tenth Annual Goods and Services Silent Auction on Saturday, April 16, 2005 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and refreshments are served.

The Women’s Alliance, founded in the 1850s, has been active in charitable causes since its inception. Proceeds from this year’s Silent Auction will benefit two projects:

The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) program that aids victims of the humanitarian crisis in Darfur, Sudan. The ethnic cleansing occurring in that region has already claimed more than 50,000 lives and has left over 2 million people homeless.

Other proceeds will go to the Building Restoration Project of the Brookfield Unitarian Universalist Church. The historic church, often referred to as the Stone Church, dates back to 1912. Like many buildings its age the mortar holding the stones together is crumbling and is in need of costly restoration.

Among the numerous of items and services available at this year’s Silent Auction are: two tickets to Red Sox vs. Anaheim, Wed. 9/7/05, 7:05 p.m. at Fenway Park. Seats are located on the third base side of home plate, under shelter and on the aisle (face value $150); a one-night stay at The Minister's Inn, a charming, Victorian Bed and Breakfast in Uxbridge, MA; Versace Jeans, Couture Unisex Black Denim Jacket (retail value $370); framed and matted print of a watercolor painting "Dexter Grist Mill" by Newton Frost; framed and matted pen and ink print "Overgrown" by Newton Frost; framed black and white photo "Reading by Candlelight" c 1890 from the Sandler Collection.
